Forbidden - Jana Oliver

Forbidden (Demon Trappers #2) - Jana Oliver
Grade: YA
Rating 5/5 stars

Riley's beginning to think being a demon trapper isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her dad's been stolen by a necromancer, her boyfriend's gone all weird and she's getting warm and fuzzy feelings for someone who's seriously bad news. It's tempting to give it all up and try to be normal, but that's not an option. Because the demons have plans for Riley. And they're not the only ones. (Description from Goodreads)

Forbidden begins where Forsaken left off. The demon trappers are trying to get reorganized after the attack on their headquarters, and Riley is trying to find who took her father. Then there's the mystery of the fake Holy Water, plus Riley still has demons after her, and her boyfriend is acting all weird. That's a lot for a 17 year old to handle. Luckily she has help from her friends, including the mysterious Ori.

There are a few new characters in this novel (a red haired reporter and the Vatican's demon hunters), but I liked how we learn more about some of the minor characters from Forsaken.

Jana Oliver has created such an amazing world and to see characters that you love grow and mature (BECK!) makes this novel a perfect sequel. I was eagerly turning pages and from around half way through, well, you better hold on because it's twist after twist. There are a lot of confessions and realizations, and poor Riley learns the hard way that not everything is as it seems. Riley makes a lot of mistakes which have major consequences, and I can't wait for the next book to see how she deals with them.

This is one of my favourite series.
5 out of 5.
